Music Plus

It takes a lot of volunteers of varying talents to create our unique, blended style of worship. At First Pres you are likely to see any of the following groups working to lead worship on Sunday mornings. Additionally, these ensembles come together to produce 3 major concerts each year for Christmas, Easter, and an American Heritage concert in July.

Chancel Choir:

This group of 30 plus singers generally sings every Sunday morning throughout the year. From traditional music like Handel, to gospel, to Broadway, they sing a variety of styles of music. They meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30 pm to rehearse for Sunday Worship, as well as music for the upcoming concert of each season. We are always looking to expand the choir with heartfelt voices, no audition necessary. Additionally, we invite singers to join us who just wish to sing for special event concerts, but can't make the time commitment to sing year round. For more information or to join the choir contact Marcie Samuelson.

Sufficient Grace:

Sufficient Grace is our Praise and Worship Team. They lead the majority of our worship services through song and prayer. It is made up of 6-8 singers as well as a variety of instrumentalists including 3 guitars, drums, keyboard, piano, and flute. In addition to leading worship and performing in concerts at First Pres, they will often perform in local community events, such as the Downtown Leesburg Christmas Stroll. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00 p.m., as well as Sunday mornings at 8:15 a.m. For more information or to join Sufficient Grace contact Marcie Samuelson

Joyful Ringers:

The Joyful Ringers are our Hand Bell Choir. They typically ring at our Sunday morning worship services once a month during October through April. Rehearsals take place during these months on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:00 p.m. For more information or to join the Joyful Ringers contact Howard Fowler or Marcie Samuelson.

NoteMakers:

Instrumentalists of all playing levels are welcome to join this group designed to enhance and engage our worship service in a different way. A variety of music will be learned and played that adds to our already wonderful music offerings during our worship service. For more information or to join the Instrumental Ensemble contact Marcie Samuelson.

The 1st Thespians

FPC has a drama team of 20+ members who regularly provide humorous and/or poignant skits to enhance the worship theme of the day. In December, 2017 the Thespians joined the Choir and Praise Team to present Yet Another Christmas Musical, an original piece written by Marcie Samuelson, our Worship and Music Director. This production included a number of children in dramatic roles.

WordMasters

The speech choir at FPC provides dramatic readings in worship. These readings include everything from Scripture, to famous speeches or writings, to original scripts. The group functions like any other choir - they rehearse, they learn parts, they are directed, they are trained in the use of their voices, they learn tempo, timing, cadence, and expression. WordMasters had a prominent role in the 2017 Easter concert.

Salt & Light

The supportive and strategic use of sound, video, and lights are essential to all productions at FPC. Our highly trained Salt & Light crew regularly creates Power Points, video clips, slide shows, and lighting designs for worship, fellowship programs, meetings, and other gatherings at the church. For more information or to join our Salt & Light crew contact Jon Redding.
